How Purchasing Travel Insurance Can Help You Save Money
How Purchasing Travel Insurance Can Help You Save Money
Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, purchasing travel insurance can help save you money. It is the same principle that applies when you buy something of value like a car or a classic piece of jewelery. Should anything happen, you do not want to lose your investment in one day. Most likely, you would want that car or ring replaced at full purchase value. If you have purchased air tickets, you would want to protect that investment as well. Who wants to lose money especially in these dire economic times?
Ways that Travel Insurance Can Help You Save Money
There are at least three situations where purchasing travel insurance can help you save money:
• Cancellation of flights – If you or the airline decides to cancel the flights you are booked in, your airfare will be partially covered by travel insurance. Say if you spent ,500.00 worth of air tickets for you and your family, and suddenly the airline closes down for business or cancels a flight for any reason, you do not lose all of the ,500.00 because travel insurance will reimburse that amount. Of course the airline will probably refund you the money if it is their fault, but having travel insurance will compensate you for the inconvenience and trouble. Also, if you cancel the flight yourself, travel insurance will get you back your money.
• Loss of luggage – When you purchase travel insurance, make sure it covers lost luggage as well. Imagine landing in some foreign country with none of your luggage! While most airlines are efficient about recovering lost luggage and delivering them to your door, don’t rely on that efficiency. There have been instances where luggage was never recovered.
• Medical problems – You may be in perfect health when you leave for vacation but you increase the likelihood of getting exposed to viruses or bacteria either in the plane or in your country of destination. There’s also the chance that you could accidentally drink the local drinking water or eat contaminated food. Medical visits in some foreign countries can cost an arm and a leg so you wouldn’t want to spend all your vacation money on doctor’s visits! If you have travel insurance that covers expenses for brief hospitalizations, medicine and emergency situations, think about how much all these could add up if you didn’t have travel insurance.
Tips for Purchasing Travel Insurance
• Ask your insurance provider – If you have an insurance company that insures your car, house and other property, they may also offer travel insurance or they may work with a partner or affiliate who does. Because you are an established customer, they may offer you travel insurance at lower rates. It doesn’t hurt to ask. In fact, in some instances, you may be better off going with your existing insurer than purchase separate insurance from the travel agent who books your flight.
• Go for the whole nine yards – What this means is if you are traveling with the family, you might be better off buying family travel insurance instead of separate insurance policies. It also means that because traveling with children entails more risk than traveling alone, you may want to consider travel insurance that offers comprehensive coverage; that is, plane fares, luggage, and health and medical visits.
• Multi-trip travel insurance – If you make more than one trip every year, you might be better off purchasing an annual multi-trip travel insurance policy. This would save you the hassle of purchasing travel insurance several times during the year. Some travel insurance companies will usually sell you a 12-month package that is renewable yearly and this is a huge convenience if you travel a lot during any given 12-month period. The single biggest advantage of buying an annual policy is that you don’t need to worry about arranging for emergency medical coverage.
• Compare packages and prices – As for most major ticket items, it pays to shop around for insurance. If you know you will be travelling six months from now, don’t wait until the month before your travel date to do some bargain hunting. Start now so that you are not rushed about reading the fine print and you can make a more informed decision about the kind of travel insurance that is ideal for your situation.
Remember to do the cost analysis if you are ever tempted to skip travel insurance. Even if your ticket is discounted, say you paid 0.00 to go to the Caribbean. Travel insurance will cost about .00 to 0.00. If you are forced to cancel your trip, you lose 0.00 (restricted and discounted tickets are usually non-refundable or non-transferrable) versus the 0.00 you paid if you had purchased travel insurance. If you want to save money, put travel insurance on the top of your list.

Benefits of Consulting a Travel Agency for an International Vacation
Benefits of Consulting a Travel Agency for an International Vacation
You might think you are going to need some help with your vacation planning, and if you are taking an international trip, you might not realize how important a travel agency can be. When you are traveling internationally, a travel agency is going to be a major help to you. You’ll be able to plan the perfect trip by using a travel agency, there are certain things that a travel agency can do for you that you just canât do on your own.
Finding Package Deals
When you are traveling on an international vacation, a package deal can be even more important for you to find because you might be able to save money on things like airfare, hotels, and car rentals. When you travel internationally, you are going to need everything that a package deal has to offer. You are going to need to have some form of transportation, and a car rental or some kind of shuttle pass may be your only option. Therefore, for an international vacation, package deals are probably the best thing for you to do, and the best place to find package deals is by going to a travel agency that you can trust.
Dealing with Language Barriers
As you travel internationally, you will most likely be traveling to places where your native language is not that countryâs native language. This means that items are going to be called by different names, and you might not be able to just open up a phone book and find a place to rent a car. Travel agencies deal with different languages all the time, and they can do all of the pre-booking for you. They can also gather information about things like your hotel, your car rental, and the attractions you will be going to see. You won’t have to worry about tracking down the translations because your travel agency will have taken care of this already.
Dealing with Cultural Barriers
Traveling internationally might take you into cultures that are extremely foreign to you. If you are booking these trips on your own, you may not know what appropriate attire is to wear in certain situations, or how you are supposed to act in a different country. Your travel agency can help you with all of these things, and will prepare you for being in a different culture. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable on your vacation, and your travel agency can help you with this as well. They should tell you everything you need to know in order to have a relaxing vacation.
Having Support if There Are Problems
Thereâs a good chance you won’t run into any problems while you are traveling internationally, but the thing is that you really never know when problems will come up. If you have a travel agency that has booked your trip, and a ticket gets canceled, or a flight gets missed, your travel agent can help you fix those problems even from back home. Therefore, it is always a good idea to go with a travel agency when you are booking international trips. You never know when you are going to have to get into a different hotel, find a different flight, or completely change the country you are traveling to, and your travel agent can help you with this.
Having Refunds Available
When things do go wrong, and there are problems with the booking, your travel agent is going to be responsible for that. If you’ve booked on your own, and you make a mistake, you are out of luck. There is really nothing that you can do about it. However, if something goes wrong and your travel agent has booked it for you, you’ll get new travel plans and any refunds that you are entitled to. This means that you have a type of insurance that you can take along with you when you travel. You know that you have the support of the travel agency behind you, and you also do not have to worry about refunds if something does go wrong.
Lower Costs and Less Hassle
When you travel internationally, there is always a lot of cost and a lot of hassle associated with your trip. Vacations are expensive, especially international vacations, and making sure that you plan your vacation right can really cause headaches. Therefore, booking an international trip with a travel agency is something that you can do to make sure that you have less cost and less hassle. While you are spending less money, and not stressing about the hassle, you will be able to enjoy the trip even more, and your international vacation will be a greater success for you. By using a travel agency you will be spending money wisely, in all the right places. No unnecessary payments or headaches.

Discount Travel Ideas – Learning How to Bargain
Discount Travel Ideas – Learning How to Bargain
This discount travel idea came into being because traveling can be quite expensive relative to most people’s incomes. Unless you’re fairly well-off, you won’t be able to travel as much as you would like until you master some discount travel techniques. The art of discount travel is more then simply a few tricks. It is an overall strategy that you can, and should, apply to every element of your trip.
For example, you should explore charter flights and last minute deals, etc. to get the cheapest possible airfare. Once you arrive in a foreign country, you should meet some locals and establish where the cheap places to eat and stay are. Discount travel involves a lot of small things that when applied together result in big savings, and allow even those on moderate budgets to travel more and more enjoyably.
An important discount travel idea to use if you want your money to last while you are in a foreign country is that of bargaining. In most foreign countries, and especially those of the third world, bargaining plays a big part in everyday life and you will find yourself continually overspending if you don’t participate in it.
Most North Americans are terrible at bargaining, which is not at all their fault. Bargaining simply does not play much of a role in our everyday transactions except for large purchases like buying a car, and maybe to a lesser extent a house. Most of us aren’t used to it and we certainly aren’t used to haggling over small everyday items.
The first thing to understand – and a great discount travel idea – is that in the third world, everything is negotiable, and usually very heavily negotiable. When you start to bargain, you’ll soon see that the type of bargaining that goes on in other parts of the world is very different from the North American style. People often start with figures that are double or more their desired amount.
The first step in bargaining is to not be in any kind of rush to get in a taxi, or in a hotel room, or to purchase your item. Take the time to ask around, and if you can, find some locals who will (hopefully) give you an idea of a good price. The second thing to keep in mind is you have to be willing to walk away, or at least good at pretending that you’re willing to walk away. Oftentimes you’ll find that by simply showing a lack of interest and willingness to avoid the transaction the price will be lowered, without any need for specific bargaining on your part.
Once you get the hang of bargaining you’ll find it rather easy, and in some cases fun. The main thing to keep in mind when you’re in a foreign land is that your status as a North American will usually label you as rich to locals, even if it doesn’t seem that way to you. If you don’t want to get charged double – or more – for every single thing you do while traveling you’ll have to get used to the idea of bargaining. This is a key idea in the overall strategy of discount travel.

Travel Cheap With Apartment Swapping
Travel Cheap With Apartment Swapping
Each time that someone travels, two things always cost the most. Accommodation and airfare. Because of that, most of us are not allowed to travel nearly as much as we would like to. However, some people with very modest income seem to be traveling all the time. So what is their secret?
The secret is in learning how to travel cheap, and there are many ways to make your trips much cheaper and thus more frequent. One of those secret ways is apartment swapping.
Usual way for Apartment swapping is to use classified ad web sites such as craigslist.org. These works in this way: person offers his or hers apartment for a few days in exchange for an apartment in the city they wish to travel to. If you find someone interested in visiting your town you arrange to swap the apartments for some time (a week or two usually).
The main benefit of apartment swapping is that it will reduce your trip expenditure almost only to airline ticket. It is especially convenient for expensive cities like London, New York or Madrid, by swapping apartments you can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
Another good thing about it is the usuall time it takes place and that is in most cases precisely during the high tourist season, when hotels are the most expensive.
If you check out sites like this, you will discover that a lot of them have parts exclusively devoted to swapping apartments. You can also notice that the bulk of apartment swapping goes on during the holidays part of the year.
Usually ad will be from a person who wishes to spend holidays for example in a New York, and is from Chicago. Therefore, if you are from New York and want to spend holidays in Chicago, you will save 0s if you arrange a deal with that person.
Good place to start is to go to craigslist.org and check the ads for the cities you are interested in. If and when you decide on a trip, just place an ad in a part devoted to the city you are interested in visiting (do it a couple week before the actual trip as this will give you time to find someone willing to swap apartments). What you will be saying is does anyone from this city want to swap apartments for xy days, starting from xy till xy?
Naturally, apartment swapping does have its price, and the first thing that comes to mind is can I trust this person? You will be giving away your apartment to a perfect stranger, so even if you are not worried about possible theft, make the effort and find out anything you can about your potential apartment swap buddy.
Try to find people that want to visit your city for site seeing and not for wild parties that might end up with you being sued or with your personal possessions broken. Also keep your part of the deal, you will be after all, living in his/hers apartment with their things so try to be careful.
Finally, if you are young, trust people, like to travel and are wiling to accept a certain risk amount apartment swapping could be just the thing that could make it possible for you to see the world.

How to Find Cheap Flights to Top Destinations
How to Find Cheap Flights to Top Destinations
With the increasing cost of living these days, you need to save money whenever possible. So how can you apply this philosophy to airfare? There are many ways to obtain great prices on flights. Getting the best rates on airfare requires that you know a few simple tricks that can pay off significantly. These tips include using frequent flyer miles, time of day and day of departure to your advantage when planning a trip. These can all save you money and do not require a lot of extra effort. Knowing these helpful hints can be the difference between big spending and big savings.
Remember to be Flexible with your Departure Date
This is another key to saving money on airline tickets. If you are flexible about the departure time of your flight, you can often save a lot of money on the final price of your ticket. The flights that leave in the morning or evening tend to be cheaper, and booking a flight during these times can save you money. The day of the week can have an impact as well. Many flyers try to book flights more toward the weekend. If you are willing to do your homework and leave a few days open as your possible departure day, this can provide some extra discounts. Sometimes it is difficult to avoid leaving at a certain time but with proper research, you can find the deals that you want.
Holidays are a busy time for travelling because many people like to visit their families. Because of this popular time to travel, airlines like to raise the price of their flights. Plan your trip well in advance and schedule your departure a few days early before the prices are increased. This can allow you to spend extra time with your relatives that you are visiting. Avoiding travel on the holidays is always a bonus because, of course, flights can be more expensive when the seats have greater demands being placed upon them.
Plan Ahead
Another way to get a great deal on your next flight is by planning ahead. Tickets prices increase when the demand is greater for that particular flight. This is typically true as it gets closer to the date of the flight. The theory is that a flyer booking a flight closer to the date needs to get on the flight and may be willing to pay more.
With a little forethought, you can shop out the good deals and rest easy until it is time to leave. The more you can plan ahead, the better the deals are in most cases. If you know that you have to book a flight in the future, shopping around and booking your flight even earlier can lead to even bigger savings. This is extremely beneficial because by booking your flight at the last minute can be much more expensive and a ticket to that particular flight may not even be available. Booking early can help save money while eliminating stress and frustration.
Be loyal to your airline
There are many airlines available looking for your business. These prices vary significantly but once you find a company that you like it is best to stay with them. This program is perfect for anybody that flies a lot because it can help you earn free flights. Frequent flyer miles are a reward system provided by the airline that allows the customer to earn free flights. You obtain a card from the airline and this card contains the information about how many miles you have accumulated. This is a very easy way to save money with the concept of brand loyalty.
Browse the internet
The internet provides information to anybody seeking it and this is also true when it comes to cheap flights. Discounted airline tickets and vacation packages are available online with the proper research. Online research consists of finding your destination from multiple travel agencies and discovering which can provide the best deal. There may be specials or other discounts available for your vacation. These are well worth it because it is an easy way to save money. Also with this many travel agencies available on your computer it is extremely easy to research the best prices.
Airlines are always providing cheap airline tickets and with proper research you can find a ticket at a great price. Some key points to remember are to be flexible with the time you leave. This allows you to be prepared for your flight along with the possibility of paying less for your tickets. Stay with the same airline agency as this can provide extra benefits such as frequent flyer miles. Shop around, and plan as far ahead as you can manage. It may take a little extra work on your part, but the payoff can be worth the savings even if you have to leave early in the morning.

8 Tips For Budget Travel
8 Tips For Budget Travel
It can be tough to travel on a budget if you aren’t used to it. But there is no reason why you should stay home just because you don’t have scads of money! So, grab that battered, second hand Lonely Planet Guide and get going with these useful budget travel tips!
- Stay close to home. Instead of a family vacation to Disney World, why not scout out a fun location closer to where you live? There are plenty of other theme parks to consider that won’t require airfare and staying in some of the country’s more expensive hotels.
- Do your research. Start looking online for travel deals at least three months ahead of time if possible. That’s how you find special deals. Also, booking ahead saves you money since airlines and hotels charge premium rates for last minute travelers. You can often find deals for entrance tickets to places like Disney World and other popular attractions online.
- Be flexible and book extra time off are two very good travel tips. If you don’t necessarily have to go to Acapulco, why not check out airfare to other parts of Mexico? Also, being flexible with travel dates is ideal since certain days tend to be cheaper to fly on (like Tuesdays).
- Eat in travel tips: Find a hotel that includes breakfast and you save at least -15 per person on food a day! If you are traveling near home, try packing your own food. Or ask for a kitchenette and hit the local supermarket once you arrive. Preparing meals in your hotel room can drastically cut costs.
- To save money, follow these travel tips. If you are driving across the country, why not check out that free opal museum in Arizona or the World’s Largest Ball of String? These sights are free, but they are still interesting and can provide topics of conversation on the long drive to the real destination!
- Look online for coupons for anything. There are coupons for just about everything if you really look. Print some out for shows in Las Vegas or to get 2 for 1 entry to a museum. You can also find travel tips online.
- Don’t rent a car. If you are going somewhere like New York, just ask your hotel desk clerk about the subways or buses. And if you happen to be in California, check that the hotel you are thinking of booking offers a free shuttle to Disneyland or anywhere else. Most hotels offer free or cheap shuttle service to and from the airport as well.
- Some good food travel tips: when eating out, eat a big meal for lunch and go small for dinner. Lunch menus tend to be just as filling as dinner, but far cheaper in most restaurants. Look for a menu of the day, as well. These can be special offers that include an entire meal, soup, entree, drink and dessert for a set price. For supper, split an entree between two people or just order appetizers as your meal. Asking for just water is a good way to knock about -6 off each person’s tab!
You can travel on the cheap, and it is worth a try, even if you do have a bit of cash to spend. Just follow the travel tips above!

Saving travelling money
Saving travelling money
There are two ways to save money traveling. The first way is to get the best deals on the specific things you want. There are restrictions to this kind of approach, though. If, for example, you will find the lowest prices for the best hotel in Honolulu at the height of the season, you’ll save money, but still very expensive vacation. Attempting to get exactly what you want, or what do you think you want to be an expensive proposal, to travel and in life.
Be Travel timeserving
Another approach is to be a true opportunist. It would be difficult for some of you, and entirely unacceptable to others. However, tourists who are traveling the most, to move to a wide variety of places, to learn more and to do the most, are opportunists. This will be true until you are so rich that you have no monetary limits.
The first time I went to Ecuador, I went there because it was cheap. If not, I would have had more time – somewhere else. The trip lasted a month and costs $ 1045, which included airfare and even $ 130 for the leadership to take me to the top of the glacier-covered Mount Chimborazo.
I will reduce costs by bus from my home in Michigan to Miami and back, when I returned from Ecuador. Round-trip ticket costs $ 158. In the round-trip flight to Quito from Miami was only $ 256 because she was a courier flight, which meant I signed for some luggage (spare parts), and can only take hand luggage.
I never feel deprived or bored. I had a great time there, where it was cheap and clean, doing all sorts of inexpensive, but interesting things, and traveling across the country to climb Chimborazo. I also met and fell in love with my wife Ana.
How to become Opportunistic Trip
Can you drink rum in United States dollars for a bottle instead of your favorite beer? You can eat chicken instead of steak? How about free visits to first, and dancing in the street festival, and not in the disco?
Being opportunist means you’ll have as much variety, and probably almost everything you want – eventually. You just need to stop trying to get exactly what you want exactly when you want it. If the guide that took me Chimborazo is not its price fell from $ 200 to $ 130, I would spend $ 2 bus and went to the foot of El Altar, another great Andean mountain. This would leave me enough money for several other minor adventures.
More Secrets of Cheap Travel
Ticketing: My wife and I were planning trips to visit family in Ecuador. Cheapest airfare
from Traverse City, Michigan to Quito, was $ 1720. Out of curiosity, I checked Miami to Quito, and it was only $ 404. Air travel from Traverse city of Miami is $ 300. Book two separate flights and save more than $ 2000! Discount sites are not set up to find that way (yet), so you have to do so on their own. Incidentally, the six-week journey, which we adopted in 2004, cost $ 2400, including losing $ 100, while being robbed of $ 174.
Food: If you travel here or in other countries, it is usually cheaper to buy healthy snacks in the grocery store, but do not eat every meal in a restaurant. When you do eat in restaurants, it may be cheaper to order individual items on the menu from the list of snacks and meals. You can also get more variety that way.
Accommodation: For a long trip, you can rent an apartment in the city. We did this for two months in Tucson, about $ 600 a month less than even the cheaper motels. Watch the hotel coupon books at gas stations. The coupons will often save $ 10 on the number you would have in any case. If you have a conversion van or RV, you can camp a couple nights a week, as we do to preserve the motel. We love hotsprings we left a $ 3 fee BLM, instead of $ 40 for the cheapest motel in the area.
Travel costs: to do more and travel less. Very often, traveling part of the cost, the largest, the cost of gas, convenient fast-Fouda, and expensive hotels you are forced to pay when you just can not drive further. So, if you find a place with a reasonable motel, and much to be done in this area – stay for a while!
