How Purchasing Travel Insurance Can Help You Save Money
How Purchasing Travel Insurance Can Help You Save Money
Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, purchasing travel insurance can help save you money. It is the same principle that applies when you buy something of value like a car or a classic piece of jewelery. Should anything happen, you do not want to lose your investment in one day. Most likely, you would want that car or ring replaced at full purchase value. If you have purchased air tickets, you would want to protect that investment as well. Who wants to lose money especially in these dire economic times?
Ways that Travel Insurance Can Help You Save Money
There are at least three situations where purchasing travel insurance can help you save money:
• Cancellation of flights – If you or the airline decides to cancel the flights you are booked in, your airfare will be partially covered by travel insurance. Say if you spent ,500.00 worth of air tickets for you and your family, and suddenly the airline closes down for business or cancels a flight for any reason, you do not lose all of the ,500.00 because travel insurance will reimburse that amount. Of course the airline will probably refund you the money if it is their fault, but having travel insurance will compensate you for the inconvenience and trouble. Also, if you cancel the flight yourself, travel insurance will get you back your money.
• Loss of luggage – When you purchase travel insurance, make sure it covers lost luggage as well. Imagine landing in some foreign country with none of your luggage! While most airlines are efficient about recovering lost luggage and delivering them to your door, don’t rely on that efficiency. There have been instances where luggage was never recovered.
• Medical problems – You may be in perfect health when you leave for vacation but you increase the likelihood of getting exposed to viruses or bacteria either in the plane or in your country of destination. There’s also the chance that you could accidentally drink the local drinking water or eat contaminated food. Medical visits in some foreign countries can cost an arm and a leg so you wouldn’t want to spend all your vacation money on doctor’s visits! If you have travel insurance that covers expenses for brief hospitalizations, medicine and emergency situations, think about how much all these could add up if you didn’t have travel insurance.
Tips for Purchasing Travel Insurance
• Ask your insurance provider – If you have an insurance company that insures your car, house and other property, they may also offer travel insurance or they may work with a partner or affiliate who does. Because you are an established customer, they may offer you travel insurance at lower rates. It doesn’t hurt to ask. In fact, in some instances, you may be better off going with your existing insurer than purchase separate insurance from the travel agent who books your flight.
• Go for the whole nine yards – What this means is if you are traveling with the family, you might be better off buying family travel insurance instead of separate insurance policies. It also means that because traveling with children entails more risk than traveling alone, you may want to consider travel insurance that offers comprehensive coverage; that is, plane fares, luggage, and health and medical visits.
• Multi-trip travel insurance – If you make more than one trip every year, you might be better off purchasing an annual multi-trip travel insurance policy. This would save you the hassle of purchasing travel insurance several times during the year. Some travel insurance companies will usually sell you a 12-month package that is renewable yearly and this is a huge convenience if you travel a lot during any given 12-month period. The single biggest advantage of buying an annual policy is that you don’t need to worry about arranging for emergency medical coverage.
• Compare packages and prices – As for most major ticket items, it pays to shop around for insurance. If you know you will be travelling six months from now, don’t wait until the month before your travel date to do some bargain hunting. Start now so that you are not rushed about reading the fine print and you can make a more informed decision about the kind of travel insurance that is ideal for your situation.
Remember to do the cost analysis if you are ever tempted to skip travel insurance. Even if your ticket is discounted, say you paid 0.00 to go to the Caribbean. Travel insurance will cost about .00 to 0.00. If you are forced to cancel your trip, you lose 0.00 (restricted and discounted tickets are usually non-refundable or non-transferrable) versus the 0.00 you paid if you had purchased travel insurance. If you want to save money, put travel insurance on the top of your list.

How a Travel Agent can Save you Money on your Next Trip
How a Travel Agent can Save you Money on your Next Trip
These days, many families have their put their vacation plans toward the bottom of their list of priorities. During tougher times, a vacation can seem to simply cost too much money. However, if you are thinking about going on a vacation, you might want to look into working with a travel agent to save money on vacation expenses. Working with a travel agent to plan your vacation means you might be able to afford the trip you thought you would have to put off until next year. For this reason alone it is definitely worth exploring the possibility. So how can working with a travel agent save you money?
Your travel agent will help you get the most out of your budget
Whether your travel budget is 0 or ,000, working with a travel agent is probably the best way to make the most of your money. Especially if you’re traveling on a tight budget, the skills, knowledge, and experience of a travel agent can be invaluable.
Just make sure when you’re discussing travel plans with your agent, you are absolutely clear about how much money you have to spend. If you want to travel as cheaply as possible, make sure your travel agent understands this so that they have a good idea of the types of travel and accommodation they should be finding for you.
Your travel agent can quickly access a number of providers
Travel agents typically have access to a large network of travel, accommodation, and activity providers. With computer systems that provide access to travel agents all over the world, they can quickly locate details of discount travel providers in many countries. This is one of the main reasons why working with a travel agent is a good idea when you’re on a strict budget. They have access to a large number of different resources, software, and industry contacts, all of which they can use when hunting down the best bargains.
Your travel agent knows the cheapest times to travel
Some days are less expensive to travel on than other days. Red-eye flights and stand-by flights can be less expensive, but direct flights can cost more than taking a circuitous route that involves several different connections. Your travel agent should be very knowledgeable on the process of all this and knows that flights booked on Friday, Sunday, and Monday are generally more expensive. You stand a better chance of saving money on flights if you’re flexible about your travel dates.
In addition, your travel agent can quickly tell you if your vacation plans fall within a peak season during which flights to your destination are significantly more expensive. This means that you can modify your travel plans if you wish. Changing plans may include a cheaper destination or traveling during the offseason to save money on your flight.
Advanced booking is another factor that your travel agent can use to help you get cheaper flights. You should be booking at least six months ahead to get the most affordable tickets. Your agent should tell you that the holiday season is always a relatively expensive time to travel, no matter how far in advance you book.
Your travel agent has access to bulk discounts and consolidated tickets
If you’re willing to travel as part of an organized tour, your travel agent can help you access travel and accommodation. There are also specials for activities that are significantly cheaper than what you would spend if you did the same activities alone. This is because as part of a tour you can take advantage of bulk discounts. You can even organize your own tour through your travel agent, and the organizer might get to travel for free!
Consolidated tickets provide you with the chance to save on your air travel costs. A consolidated ticket is simply a ticket which was purchased by the agent as part of a large group of tickets sold by the same airline. The agent gets a bulk discount on the tickets and can pass that discount on to their clients.
Your travel agent has industry contacts and experience
This translates into money being put back into your pocket. Your travel agent may be in regular contact with many industry professionals, and might be able to get you a great deal on a tour being planned by another agent. If you’re flexible with travel times, your agent may advise you to adjust your trip dates to travel during a cheaper part of the week, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars in travel costs. An experienced agent should have expert knowledge of your travel destination and can provide advice on budget accommodation and activities. The agent may often be able to provide discount coupons, free passes, and other incentives.
Best of all, none of these advantages come at a price! You can take full advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience that your travel agent provides, and can potentially save a great deal of money in the process.

How to Save Money When Booking a Vacation Through Your Travel Agency
How to Save Money When Booking a Vacation Through Your Travel Agency
With an uncertain economy and, for many, an uncertain future, some people are opting to put off vacations. Despite the potential problems on the horizon, that does not have to be the case. When you work with a travel agency, you can save a lot of money. Almost anyone can afford to travel if they follow these six tips when booking a vacation through a travel agency:
Tip #1: Be clear that you’re on a very tight budget.
If you want to save money when you vacation, your best bet is to tell your travel agent that from the start. There is little to be gained by hiding the fact that you want to travel on a shoestring budget. Furthermore, be really clear about what that budget is, since “inexpensive” to one person is not cheap to another. The clearer you are about your price range, the better. That way, your travel agent can put together a vacation package that you can afford, not work for a long time on something that doesn’t even come close to your budget.
Tip #2: Have flexible travel dates and times.
The more options you give your travel agent when it comes to your vacation dates, the better. Flights tend to change prices drastically over the weekend, so moving your vacation just two or three days could save you hundreds of dollars. Avoiding holidays is also good. When you’re flexible, your travel agent can also barter for hotel rooms, show tickets, and so forth with other companies in the travel industry. For example, if your travel agent knows that another agent is trying to fill rooms he or she bought in a chunk for a discounted price, you can get a better deal on one of those rooms. Give your travel agent a bit of wiggle room to negotiate. Likewise, if you are willing to travel at undesirable times, like in the early morning hours or overnight, you may be able to get a cheaper deal, at least on the transportation costs.
Tip #3: Ask for a cheaper version of your dream vacation.
During your initial meeting with your travel agent, have an open mind when it comes to destination. Talk about your dream vacation spot, but then hear out your agent on places that are similar but not as expensive. For example, say you want to visit Aspen for a gorgeous ski vacation. It might be less expensive (but just as fun) to go skiing at one of the resorts in Vermont. You might feel like your compromising too much, but think about your destination choices long and hard. If it is just the name holding you back, you might want to just let go and take a risk on the less expensive location. You might have just as much fun if you stay open-minded
Tip #4: Stay in the United States.
Work with a travel agent who books domestic trips so that you can stay in the United States. In most cases, you should save money on transportation since you will not have to travel as far. You may also be able to travel without documentation, as long as you have a picture ID. When you travel out of the country, you need a passport at the very least, and you may need a visa, certain vaccinations, or other travel documents as well. When you stay in the United States, you should also not have to worry about added cell phone expenses to make calls, losing money on the exchange rate, or paying top dollar to take your luggage with you.
Tip #5: Be willing to do some of the planning yourself.
The whole reason you use a travel agent is to avoid having to do the planning work yourself, but if you compromise on that a bit, you may be able to save money. Instead of working with a travel agent who plans every last detail, get someone that is a little less expensive and just book your flight and hotel through the agent. When it comes to the other stuff, like getting tickets to an event or making restaurant reservations, you can do the work yourself.
Tip #6: Organize a group tour.
A great way to save money on your vacation is to organize a tour through your travel agency. Group rates will apply, but more importantly, the person who organized the vacation typically gets to travel for free. The down side of that is that you have to commit to finding a certain number of people who will go on vacation with you, which can be hard. You are also responsible for them if they do not pay, and you have to, essentially, share you vacation. However, this is a great way to save money and make sure that you can still travel, even if you are on a budget.

Top Questions to Ask Your Travel Agent When Booking a Trip
Top Questions to Ask Your Travel Agent When Booking a Trip
If you have never worked with a travel agent before, you might be a little out of your element when it comes to talking about your travel needs. At your initial meeting, it is important not to get steamrolled into buying a vacation package that you do not really want or leaving without a sense of exactly what you need to do to prepare for travel. Here are the top questions you need to ask your travel agent before you book your trip:
Question #1: What are the best times of year to travel to my location?
Every location will be different when it comes to peak tourist season. For example, cruises to Alaska are more common during the summer months. On the other hand, Aspen vacations are more popular during the winter. Keep in mind that âbestâ for you might not mean that peak season. While tourists flock to these areas during certain times of the year for a reason, such as the great weather or a special event in the areas, thatâs also when travel will be most expensive. You can save some money by booking your trip during the off-season.
Question #2: Are there cheaper alternatives to the choices youâre making for my trip?
Sometimes, the price of a vacation package can be drastically altered with just a few changes to the default choices. Usually, travel agents automatically book âmiddle of the roadâ accommodations, flights, and so forth. In other words, they donât choose luxury or economy â they choose something in the middle. If you are purchasing a vacation package, ask about each part of the trip. Can you shave money off by flying at different hours of the day or choosing a room at a cheap hotel? Can you swap out the expensive show tickets and instead spend the day shopping? Little changes can combine to equal big savings, and when you look at an itemized list of what youâre getting by default, you might want to upgrade some things as well.
Question #3: What travel documents do I need to carry with me?
If you leave the United States, you absolutely need passports, even if you are just traveling to Mexico or Canada. The other rules for travel documents, however, vary according to where you are traveling and the length of your stay. You might need certain vaccinations if you intend to visit certain parts of the world, for example. If you are traveling with pets, make sure that they have the proper documentation as well, especially for re-entering the United States.
Question #4: Do you offer travel insurance or refunds if my trip is canceled?
Travel insurance is a great way to ensure that you get your money back in case something goes wrong. Most travel agencies offer refunds if they have to cancel the trip, for whatever reason, but some donât give you any flexibility in changing your dates, even if you have a personal emergency. Travel insurance can solve this problem, and it also helps you if you have airline, luggage, medical, or other problems when you are away from home.
Question #5: Do you offer referral discounts if friends of mine book trips through you?
It doesnât hurt to ask! Many travel agencies offer a referral program so that if you tell a friend about them you get money off your trip. You may also be entitled to discounts if you organize a group tour, book repeat trips within a certain time frame, or pay for your entire vacation upfront.
Question #6: What days of the week are least expensive for travel and touring?
Most commonly, you should try to travel on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday if you want to save the most money, but that is not always the case. If you have some flexibility as far as your travel dates go, make sure you tell your travel agent and attempt to get the cheapest prices. Sometimes, moving your vacation by just a single day can save you hundreds of dollars; this is especially true during the holidays and other days of high travel.
Question #7: What activities can you recommend while Iâm on vacation?
Make sure to grill your travel agent about hot spots at your location so that you have plenty of insider tips while youâre away. Chances are good that your travel agent has been to your destination or has a colleague that has been. They might even have some connections so you can get a good deal on gift certificates or discounted tickets. It is in your best interest to find a travel agent who is very familiar with your destination. The more knowledge your travel agent is about the destination of your trip, the more prepared you will be to maximize your time away from home.

Top 5 Reasons an Online Travel Agency can Save You Money
Top 5 Reasons an Online Travel Agency can Save You Money
There are more than five reasons an online travel agency can save you money but the top five is a great start. Global statistics are pointing to the trend that online shopping for travel deals is way ahead of online shopping for books, electronics and clothing. For example, in Canada, about 45% of Canadians in 2007 looked for an online travel agency to book their travel, that’s a 9% increase from 2005 reports.
Here are the top five reasons why an online travel agency can save you money:
1. No overhead – many online travel agencies don’t have a physical location where they have to purchase furniture, supplies, and hire staff. In fact, many online travel agents operate from the comfort of their homes. All they need is a high speed Internet connection and access to global reservations systems. So the money they save on rent, utilities, personnel and other logistics constitute savings they can pass on to their customers. By booking online, you also save on trips to and from a travel agency in your area. You not only save money, you save precious time and gas.
2. Comparison shopping – by searching for travel deals online, you have the luxury of comparing prices provided by various online travel agencies. The idea is to read the fine print. You can compare them on the basis of:
· Actual fares and discounts
· Package deals
· Coupons and freebies
· Travel insurance
· Group discounts
· Last minute bookings
· Variety of travel deals (do they specialize in a particular country or to a particular age group?)
· Senior citizens’ deals
· Hotels and meals and transportation
· Tour guides
· Penalties for cancellations
That’s the beauty of online shopping. You’re not scampering from one travel office to another just to get an idea on prices. You can compare online deals and then narrow down your choices to three, ten or fifteen. If you have time on your hands, you can really save yourself some money by doing diligent research.
3. Ticket consolidation – many online travel agencies have access to a database of discounted tickets. Sometimes when they have excess inventory, they are forced to get rid of as many tickets to make way for the next travel season where they can purchase in bulk. Travel agents usually share information on discount tickets that are still available for sale, and prices are reduced on these tickets for “selloff.”
Air travel consolidators allow customers to compare airfares from as many airlines as possible for a specific route and for a specific time period. Not only can you save money on your ticket, but you can also find the best flight that suits your schedule best.
4. Wide network of travel-related services – online travel agents, through frequent bookings and constant research have a wealth of information that some travel agents with no online presence don’t have. Because of their ability to network rapidly with various people who work in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, railway and restaurants, online travel agents are able to find the best deals for you.
The name of the game is called “relationship building.” Through frequent contact, online travel agents can squeeze out more discounts and free coupons from tour operators and hospitality establishments like hotels and restaurants. Instead of spending .00 for your lunch while travelling, your agent can offer you a meal ticket in exchange for your business, not to mention the fare discounts they are also able to offer.
5. One-stop shopping – travel writers know about the “clout” of travel agents. When it comes to flight arrangements, rental cars, tour excursions, cruise information and accommodation, and hotels, travel agents have a lot of clout. They can provide a complete travel package, including shuttle service to and from the airport and even the services of a personal tour guide if requested. By doing all your travel and travel-related shopping with a reputable online travel agency, there is no telling how much you can get done within a short amount of time.
Note that your online travel agent has more buying power than individual passengers when it comes to airline seats, hotel accommodation or cabin space in the yacht.
It used to be that travelling last minute was expensive. Not anymore with online travel agents! In many cases, unsold seats on flights or unsold rooms in hotels are offered to travel agents a few weeks before departure date at considerably discounted rates so they can be sold immediately. If you are travelling last minute, ask your online travel agent for last minute budget deals. Chances are you might get what you want, provided your travel dates don’t fall within peak travel times. But you have to ask, not assume that it will be offered automatically!

Getting Your Cheap Airline Tickets
Getting Your Cheap Airline Tickets
After finding the perfect fare based upon your budget and requirements, your next step if to make your reservation and get your tickets. This is an easy process, which can take next to no time at all. With today’s technology, it is even possible to do this yourself from the comfort of your own home.
You can ask a travel agent to make your reservations for you, and the agent can quickly advise you of availability and do this for you right away. However, when you book through a High Street travel agent you do run the risk of having to pay extra charges to cover the agent’s profits. You can also make your reservation directly with the airline, and this can be done quickly and simply using your credit or debit card.
Another popular method of making reservations these days is to do it yourself via the Internet. You will find it really easy to do this, and advanced security software means that you can pay for your tickets safely online. This method of booking also allows you to see at a glance which reservation is the most suitable for you and what the alternatives are.
Depending on when and where you make your reservation, your tickets can be despatched to you in a number of ways. The usual method is by regular mail, and your tickets are normally posted out to your home address a month or two before departure. If you have made a later booking then you often have to pick your tickets up from the travel agent (if applicable) when they arrive there or from a kiosk at the airport of departure.
Many airlines also use e-tickets now rather than paper ones, and this is not only more convenient but can also save you money. You can often get an impressive discount by taking advantage of e-tickets over paper ones.
There are also some ways that you can help make things easier for yourself when it comes to making reservations. These methods are listed below:
During busier periods you should try and make your reservations as early as possible. If you are booking to go away during the main summer weeks, the chances are a great many other people are doing the same, and you could find yourself left high and dry. By booking early you can make sure that you get your seat and you might even benefit from an early bird saving.
Make sure that all of the information is correct on your reservations and tickets. A little keyboard slip-up on the date or the name could cause a considerable amount of worry and hassle, so it is best to check right away that all spellings, dates and details are as they should be.
Check the status box on your flight ticket and ensure that it is marked

How to Increase the Value of Your Money While Traveling
How to Increase the Value of Your Money While Traveling
Few people seem to realize that traveling can actually increase the value of their money. But not just any sort of travel will accomplish this aim, one must have a carefully planned itinerary of where one wants to travel. Most of the widely accepted currencies allow one to increase his or her assets with little difficulty.
When you take a currency like the British Pound (GBP), Euro (EUR) or U.S. Dollar (USD) to certain countries and exchange it into the local currency, it can increase in worth by one, three, even five times or more from its previous value. This kind of increase makes world travel very possible — simply by crossing the borders of some countries your bankroll instantly increases in value.
Traveling for short vacations can be expensive due to the high costs of plane tickets and getting temporarily settled into a new location. However, traveling for extended periods of time (for one month to a couple or years) actually saves money through the decrease of major transportation costs and getting settled into a foreign place. So when taking a trip it is often best to think one big vacation (saves money) rather than a few short vacations (costs more).
When planning a budget trip aim for countries that offer a good exchange rate against your currency. You can find currency exchange rates at http://www.xe.com. Using this as a guide you can make a list of the countries with good exchange rates that you would like to visit. You can also check travel websites for recommendations on cheap countries to visit, and the average cost a day for traveling within.
You can choose one cheap country to stay in for your entire vacation, or choose several to travel to. If you are going to several countries you can plan an itinerary where cheap countries are adjoined; for instance, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.
If the countries are not neighbors you can buy an Round-the-World ticket. These tickets allow you to travel from country to country as planned within a certain period of time. Round-the-World tickets are usually available for very reasonable prices and may be found by doing an internet search.
With an itinerary to visit cheap countries extended travel becomes very possible as your money substantially increases. You can take ,000, travel to select countries, and have that ,000 swell to the equivalent of ,000, ,000, or more. So save up, make a simple plan, and you’re on your way.

In each scene, the successful edit would play up the other characters — especially their flaws and quirks. It made it feel like you experienced events with the host. Also, the sound design was crucial. Note the insects, ocean, music design. Modern TV editors should also be adept at intricate sound design including the ability to completely alter library music to fit the visuals and vice-versa (scored tracks not withstanding). Student Travel Discount – A Great Way to Save Money
Student Travel Discount – A Great Way to Save Money
Students are one of the privileged classes who enjoy Student Travel Discount, be it for hostel accommodation, rail fares, air fares, bus fares, travel packages or amusement fares, museums etc. Students constantly travel either within the country or abroad, for education, research and even sometimes to gain relevant work experience for further education. However, the high prices of air travel often haunt them. But at least now, they have a better option, as in terms of air tickets, they can book their tickets well in advance to enjoy maximum discounts.
Students can easily browse through several websites of airlines and travel agencies to look for Discount Air travel offers or packages. In certain cases, the earlier the students decide their schedule and make reservations, the higher will be the discounts in air fares available to them and it will keep decreasing with the passing of each day. While in other cases the Student Travel Discount is generally fixed. For example, the Cheap air travel is available only on a single route i.e. it is available only for one-way flight. This kind of discount is most suitable to students who are not sure of their date of return and do not need Discount Global Travel to go elsewhere. But some travel sites also offer Student Travel Discount offering an open ticket option for return date and the condition being the availability of seat in the required flight. Some sites also offer a Discount Air Travel on the return travel if is made within a specific period of time.
Again if the students want to avail Discount Global Travel for international flights, they have to board the flights specified under the package offered which could mean longer traveling hours, boarding and un-boarding of more than two or three flights to reach their destinations and fewer facilities on such flights which offer economic fares, but are low on quality service. Some student travel discount packages also include insurance for students.
At times, certain airline companies may have specific flights that offer special Student Travel discount at the time of the commencement of semesters or courses in overseas universities so that maximum students can benefit from it. So the students have to constantly be on the look out for such offers in order to avail cheap air travel.
